OPERATING MILL & EQUIPMENT
Gunung Seraya’s operation is currently located on a block of land in excess of 12 acres not far from the main port of Peninsular Malaysia, Port Klang. The Production Facilities, the Kiln Drying Plant together with the Timber Preservative Plant sit on two mills both standing 50 feet tall; covering in excess of 300,000 square feet.
Next to the first mill, is the Office. The office was extended and renovated in 2003. With double of its previous capacity, the new office is able to host a larger number of visitors together with a showroom to display the capabilities of Gunung Seraya.
Facing the two mills across the road, is a Storage Warehouse carrying most of our inventory necessary to ensure a continual supply of raw material for our production.
The first mill houses all of the production facilities including the operating equipment and machinery, complete with a Tool Room.
The machinery includes 6 and 7 sided planer moulders from Weinig and Wadkin with operating speeds up to 80 metres per minute. In addition, we have a Celaschi Double End Tenoner, SCI Multi-Rip Saws, Robinson Bandsaws, Weinig Optimiser, Priming, Rotary Composer and Finger-Jointing Lines.
KILN DRYING PLANT
Gunung Seraya has installed a hot water kiln drying plant which consists of 10 kilns capable of kiln drying more than 1,000 tons of tropical hardwood a month. The location of the kilns and size of the second mill allow for at least another 10 kilns to be added if necessary.
Gunung Seraya had commissioned Tritherm Technology, a leading kiln plant company with expertise from all over South-East Asia.
The installation and operation of the kilns, together with the proper silos, heater, feeders and chimney are with the approval of the Department of Environment in compliance with the relevant regulations.
With this kiln drying plant, Gunung Seraya will be able to further control and hence improve on the quality of drying of its timber products.
We have also installed facilities for heat treatment of wood packaging materials pursuant to ISPM15 (International Standards of Phytosanitary Measures under the International Plant Protection Convention – IPPC) and is registered with the Department of Agriculture of Malaysia for this purpose.
With our in-house heat treatment, storage and maintenance, you can be assured that our wood packaging materials fully comply with the current international phytosanitary measures.

TIMBER PRESERVATIVES PRESSURE TREATMENT (P.P.T.) PLANT
In conjunction with the kiln drying plant and heat treatment, Gunung Seraya had installed two timber preservatives pressure treatment plants.
With the treatment plants, timber can be treated with either elemental boron or LOSP according to the individual requirements of its customers as well as standardised requirements, ie. Australian Standards AS1604/AS5604.
They further contribute to Gunung Seraya’s strict control over its quality requirements.
STORAGE WAREHOUSE
On a separate block land, next to the two mills, is the storage warehouse.
This warehouse, at 40 feet tall covers 44,000 square feet with room for expansion on the 2 1/2 acre land.
With this warehouse, for storage and seasoning of timber, Gunung Seraya can better serve its customers, especially those that expect the “Just-in-Time” service.
